This is all common sense. These guidelines should not have to be set, but maybe some more specific rules would be particular for certain companies. Like banning key sites or types of sites for example that are sheerly for killing time and 100% unproductive... Like theChive, I could spend all day looking at pictures then realize I didn't do any work whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the previous comment. These rules are for the most part common sense. People, especially adults in the workplace, are old enough to decipher between right and wrong. I think the main issue is an individual's will power and self control. I think we can all admit that the internet can be very addicting. We all have our one or two websites that we take the time to check everyday. The most important thing is that we have the self control and self discipline to apply to company standards. The internet and computer are used in most people's jobs. This makes it hard to establish boundaries when a computer is so easily accessed while on the clock. I think everyone needs to make an effort to limit their time on the internet and work on their own self control. Company guidelines may address the situation, but it is up to the individual to control their actions.
ReplyDeleteThese are pretty good rules. I know at there at times at work when I begin to start paying my bills online but then remember where I am and end up waiting until I get home to pay them. Rule number 8 can not be further from the truth. Avoiding being tardy can help save your job if your someone who misuses the internet at work.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above statements. The above are good rules to follow and I most definitely do not follow them 100%. I always find myself responding to emails for things that aren't work related.
ReplyDeleteIn my defense though, I am normally extremely productive and I have never been late.
